LIZ AVERY - PROFILE
Since graduating from Oxford Brookes University, in 1999, with a degree in Fine Art, Liz Avery has concentrated on creating paintings which reflect her interest in comic book and graphic art. Liz Avery's work has strong linear qualities and uses blocks of colour to produce striking imagery.
Liz Avery paints mainly in acrylic using the medium to create as flat a finished surface as possible. Her work is predominantly figurative, taking inspiration from magazine images and fashion photography, seeking to create sexy, sultry, yet cheeky images.
The paintings are heavily influenced by comic book and graphic art. Heavily cropped figures reproduced in simplified form, turning shaped into blocks of colour, the use of black line a clear reflection of the comic book influence.
Liz Avery currently has work on display in a busy London Gallery and exhibited at the 2006 Affordable Arts Fair in Battersea. She has successfully undertaken a number of commissions and is continuously developing her distinctive style.
Recently Liz Avery has gained a teaching qualification and has taught a variety of artistic skills to a wide range of ages. |
